AARP’s Policy, Research and International Affairs leads the development and communication of AARP’s public policies and, research and insights on the issues that matter to people 50-plus.

 

The Data Analytics Manager collects, manages, researches, and analyzes data to develop insights for use in decision-making and setting business priorities. Produces and distributes scheduled reports. Consults with management to discuss data insights and trends. Collaborates with management to identify opportunities to streamline data processes and to develop new procedures that support the business unit/department.


Responsibilities

  • Collects, manages, analyzes, synthesizes, and provides data to identify trends, draw insights, and address critical questions to achieve organizational objectives. Works with management teams to develop performance measurement frameworks (i.e., KPI's, metrics, etc.).
  • Works with cross-functional teams to align and integrate data platforms/process/reporting capabilities to ensure superior experience, functional excellence, and develop operational efficiencies. Manages data quality and provides support to various projects/analysis gathering data and presenting results.
  • Determines data analysis strategies and advises staff on statistical and data analytic issues. Conducts and/or supervises data analyses, including statistical analyses as required.
  • Contributes to the development of long-term goals and strategic plans to ensure continued successful growth and sustainability. Coordinates and integrates division plans with the organization’s business goals and objectives. Reviews achievement of performance versus strategic plans.
  • Evaluates existing programs to identify improvements and to measure outcomes. Analyzes and tests current processes and systems to determine effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Serves as an expert resource on data sources, tools, and analytical procedures/methodologies. Provides expertise including peer review, data interpretation or related technical assistance, training, references, and/or consultation. Evaluates and integrates new or existing data sources, tools, and analytical techniques by monitoring key news, policies, and/or market trends.
  • Develops clear, well-integrated research deliverables, including through data visualization and graphics, that communicate data and insights. Presents data and insights to internal and/or external audiences (for example: media, legislators, press conferences, organization decision makers) in a clear and concise manner.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in data sciences, statistics, information sciences, economics, public policy or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in research and analysis drawing from a variety of sectors including, but not limited to, federal programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, and national datasets addressing Health Security, Financial Security, Family Caregiving, Long Term Care and Livable Communities (Housing and Transportation).
  • Expertise in design and application of complex quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading and overseeing significant research and analysis projects with measurable results and impact.

 

Preferred:

  • Doctorate Degree preferred in data sciences, statistics, information sciences, economics, public policy or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in research and analysis drawing from a variety of sectors including, but not limited to, federal programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, and national datasets addressing Health Security, Financial Security, Family Caregiving, Long Term Care and Livable Communities (Housing and Transportation).

Hybrid Work Environment

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
