Our team creates and executes various projects to improve the lives of people as they age, helping to build a better tomorrow for future generations by engaging volunteers in AARP’s mission. We’ll challenge you to think and work innovatively on real-world projects. AARP is committed to your growth and cultivating your continued learning and development. This paid internship has an anticipated start date of August or September 2025 and will run through the end of the year, with the possibility of extending additional semesters.

 

This is a fully remote position and can be performed from anywhere in the United States and its territories.


Responsibilities

  • Work with staff and volunteer leaders to recruit and engage volunteers in several programs at AARP
  • Apply strategic, analytical, and creative thinking to help develop tools, resources, and approaches for recruiting and engaging volunteers
  • Engage in communication strategies to support volunteers and their related programs
  • Help manage the onboarding, orientation, and training of volunteers as they engage with AARP programs and activities
  • Aid in project management and administrative support for volunteer recruitment, retention, and engagement

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university as rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or postdoctoral students and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship, or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program 
  • Must be a self-starter and adaptable, with the ability to work under tight deadlines 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work priorities
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations, including gender, race, and sexual orientation
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs  
  • Familiarity with creating and editing videos and knowledge of multiple social media platforms is a plus
  • This position is fully remote and offers a hybrid option at our Washington, DC, National Headquarters Office

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
