Summary Statement

In alignment with the Enterprise Data Strategy (EDS) and under the leadership of the Director of System Development and Integration, the Manager will:



Responsibilities

o   Manage EDS-driven information technology initiatives amongst AARP’s main systems’ to optimize the analytics and the AARP constituency’s experience.

o   Explore improvement opportunities in AARP’s Data Integration, Consolidation and Data Access practices to optimize the marketing and analytical needs of the organization. Initial focus on enhancement opportunities on the main marketing platforms (IMAX & PMAX) and their main interactions.

o   Be responsible for gathering an in-depth understanding of AARP’s technical landscape, data management practices & flows and become a Subject Matter Expert in the applications and data available across the organization.

o   Compile, store, and communicate, as needed documentation on projects and delivered solutions.

o   Demonstrate AARP Values and Behaviors in all interactions. 

In this role, the  Manager will direct the activities of both internal teams as well as large external vendor teams, develop and manage project plans, develop and document requirements, schedules & acceptance criteria, facilitate resource assignment across vendors, oversee cross system/platform development projects, and establish and manage relationships with vendors, and key internal clients.

Such responsibilities require the ability to:

  • Coordinate with appropriate business units (ITS, CSN, DSO etc…) in developing the most cost efficient solution to meet the business need.
  • Manage client & team members’ expectations and ensure client satisfaction in area of responsibility and related issues.
  • Aptly conceptualize and articulate information architecture vision to team members and customers
  • High level solution estimation, risk identification and dependency analysis
  • Make independent decisions.
  • Handle multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting aggressive timelines.
  • Embrace and facilitate change with innovation and confidence.
  • Quickly assess situations and generate insights to solve issues and integrate with an overall strategy.
  • Excellent oral and written communications.

 



Requirements

  • Completion of a Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience within a technical business environment focusing on Information Management; or an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position.
  • Strong hands-on technology background dealing with complex application performance and information infrastructure issues
  • Prior experience in managing outside large relationships with vendors/providers.
  • Development experience with database or application integration technology
  • Proficiency in  SAS, SQL and MS/Access, or equivalent data management tools
  • Proficiency in common business software (including Excel, PowerPoint and Word). 
  • Strong oral and written presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Resource planning -- ability to focus resources on meeting commitments to clients.
