Integrated Communications is a multimedia, service-focused communications operation that leads in shaping the impression of AARP by providing communications planning, support and execution for AARP’s strategic business units. 



Summary Statement

Are you interested in developing your professional skills in marketing?  Join the AARP Media Sales and Marketing team as a summer intern in their New York city offices.  You will be teamed with seasoned professionals and develop your tool kit for enhancing your professional skills.  



Responsibilities

Integrated Marketing

  • Assist Marketing Manager with the distribution and coordination of the quarterly call for success stories (case studies) in print + digital.  Compile ideas and suggestions from representatives and present them to the Marketing Manager;
  • Assist with conversion of our library of success stories (case studies) to a new format in PPT
  • Compile regular reports of relevant or interesting native content among our competitors, using BrandTale
  • Proofread and act as a second pair of eyes for presentations and other materials before they are submitted to sales reps and clients
  • Help manage updates for general presentations that are available via an internal site for all sales reps
  • Find and pull stock images to use in presentations as needed

                                                   

    Research/Insights

  • Work with Insights team to cultivate category intelligence.  Conduct internet searches for current trend data on relevant categories for use in internal materials, to educate sales reps or as background for sales requests
  • Work with Insights team to analyze survey results and compile reports for clients detailing ad performance. This helps sales reps and clients identify opportunities and challenges based on feedback from AARP members
  • Organize and consolidate shared research drive to make this resource easier to use
  • Analysis of AARP Consumer Panel insights for broader use
  • Organize a monthly “Fun Facts” documents into a library by category, for easy access by reps

     

    Events and Trade Marketing

  • Assist Associate Director with preparations for annual National Sales Meeting offsite, including welcome kits and any other projects as needed

     Operations and Administration

Assist Marketing Associate with managing and maintaining internal collateral site through Sharepoint, which may include posting materials online and finding/correcting any broken or outdated links.

  • Must work closely with different members of the team to support a broad range of projects and activities, which require analytic, quantitative, organizational and creative skills
  • Must be proactive and try to seek out solutions to problems individually
  • Must have ability to prioritize and juggle a broad range of projects
  • Must be highly responsive, clear and thorough in communications with marketing and sales teams


Requirements

Interns must be currently enrolled in a degreed program at an accredited college or university; maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0; and be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors.   

AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers.  This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program. 

  • Expertise using Microsoft Office skills including PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Word;
  • Solid writing and proofreading  skills;
  • Solid analytical and quantitative skills;
  • Ability to pick up new technical skills quickly;
  • Basic knowledge of any programs within Adobe Creative Suite a plus;
  • Can-do attitude;
  • Being organized and the ability to prioritize with attention to detail is required.
