Join AARP this summer as an intern, working for our widely respected magazine, AARP The Magazine. This is a demanding position, one in which you will develop your skills and work alongside a professional team of editors.
AARP is recruiting for a summer intern to work in its publications department. This is a demanding and rewarding, paid internship. The publications department of AARP publishes AARP The Magazine, the AARP Bulletin, and AARP.org, and maintains the largest circulation in the world of over 38 million readers.
The intern should have knowledge of the editorial process and will write short items, organize reader responses, research ideas, write summary reports, and aid editors with other tasks as needed. The successful candidate will have excellent writing and organizational skills, poise, and a strong work ethic. Interns will need to be self-starters and enterprising when it comes to looking for tasks. Seniors or graduate students in journalism, English, communications, or multimedia preferred.
Interns must be currently enrolled in a degreed program at an accredited college or university; maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0; and considered rising juniors or seniors, graduate students or post doctorate students.
AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers. This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program.
