Maryland State Office of AARP is recruiting for a paid intern to support its communications team in managing its activities across the state. As an AARP intern, you will develop your communications skills, including social media, writing and research, organizational and critical-thinking skills. You will need a flexible attitude with a willingness to learn about aging issues.
AARP Maryland is seeking a Communications Intern to join our busy team in our downtown Baltimore office.
The following skills are required for the position:
An undergraduate candidate who is digital/social media savvy and is also interested in honing their traditional communications/media relations skills with one of the nation’s largest advocacy organizations. Applicant should be able to demonstrate strong writing skills for both traditional and social media. Graphic design skills a plus. Basic knowledge of Microsoft applications, as well as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram is required. Bonus points for experience in Adobe Photoshop, PicMonkey, and Canva.
Intern applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or University, in their junior or senior years of their undergraduate studies, or in graduate school, with a minimum GPA of 3.0
